Monday, November 4, 2013 - Syd Stevens unveiled a new painting of Chelsea (formerly known as Bradley) Manning in San Diego. The portrait depicts an incident from March 2011 while Manning was held in detention at United States Marine Corps Base Quantico Brig and was forced to sleep naked and stand at attention in the nude for morning inspection. The title of the painting is "Private First Class Manning Standing At Attention Naked (Chelsea Manning Transparency Activist)".

The new painting is presented next to two previous works by the artist, including a digital transparency in a light box. The works are part of a group show by artists who also work as "Stage Hands". This is the second year the group has held an art show at the Lyceum Theatre Art Gallery in Horton Plaza. This year's theme is "Bodice of Work" and coincides with San Diego Repertory Theatre's production of "Venus in Fur". Artworks will be on display until December 8th.
